The Dog Lady has over a decade of dog training and dog behavior modification experience. She first founded her own company in 2004 in Sacramento California. The company was relocated to Fayetteville North Carolina in 2009 where Eleanor also serves as the volunteer North Carolina State Director for Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet. The move allowed Eleanor to join her family members who serve at Fort Bragg while continuing her work with dog owners. The Dog Lady now has clients and friends from coast to coast.
The Dog Lady Training Company doesn’t just train dogs. It’s purpose is to build relationships between owners and their pets to create a bond that will last a lifetime. By educating and training dog owners, the company’s goal is to increase the opportunity that each dog will have a forever home.

It works with and seeks out highly skilled professional dog trainers who are knowledgeable about many different breeds, temperaments, and modern training methods.
The Dog Lady has successfully trained everything from unruly adult pit bulls to shy, withdrawn puppies, and remains confident that just about any dog can be trained.
The Dog Lady works comfortably and confidently even with “problem dogs” who might be dismissed as “un-trainable dogs”. There are, of course, some dogs that simply are not suitable as pets, but that is very rare. Most “un-trainable” dogs were labeled as such because other dog trainers were not willing to try different methods or take the time to rehabilitate the dog and use a reasonable dog training program to try to solve the dog’s behavior problems instead of compounding them. On the other hand, The Dog Lady’s dog behavior modification programs are different; she will do whatever it takes to train dog owners and dogs as long as it is humane and in the best interest of the dog, the dog’s human family, and the larger community.

If my grandfather were alive today he would be shocked to see how we dress our dogs in designer clothing and carry them around in handbags.
I developed a bond early in life with my grandfather and his animals. Out of the bond with the animals and the lessons I learned from my grandfather, came my desire for understanding the true relationship people have with their dogs. My personal experiences have shown me how important a human/canine friendship can be.
Dogs have learned to read us and behave in a manner that will cause us to take care of them. But why do we enjoy it? The behaviors that cause us to care for dogs, fulfills human needs that our society often fails to do.
My dogs have saved my life on many occasions. No, they did not pull me from a burning building. But when I needed a hug, they were there. When I needed a friend that would not judge me, they were there. They did not care about my appearance, if I was right or wrong or my finances. Their behavior toward me was void of any social or cultural judgment that our world uses to determine worth. This behavior from a living creature is often what is needed to keep us believing the glass is half full. Emotional interpersonal friendships, weather with humans or canines, are needed to keep us on course.
My business career spans 25 years, more than a decade specific to professional dog training and dog behavior modification. By combining my business and dog training careers, I have followed a passion to found a company that recognizes the need dog owners have for their pets. By following a path of leadership and character building training, my business has evolved from dog obedience training to acting as a human/canine counselor for the betterment of both species.
I want to be a resource for dog owners helping them realize the purpose they had in mind when they decided to bring a dog into their lives without losing site of the dogs needs.
Anyone can call themselves a dog trainer but if you want to make a difference you must understanding that you are not just training dogs, you are helping dog families. This moves you beyond the technical skills of dog training and into the artistic development of the trade where you understand that you are earning a living by helping dog owners with a need, not by exploiting them because of their problems.
Years of working with dogs and dog people has shown me the difference pets make in people’s lives and the amazing things they can do.
I live with two dogs and a parrot who are my best friends. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without them.
